Solar Energy

The Sun is the single most abundant source of energy for the earth. Hence our efforts must sooner or later go towards tapping this vast energy source. There are two main techniques to get electrical energy from solar energy -

• Photovoltaic (PV)
• Concentrating Solar Power (CSP)

Facts:

• The earth receives approximately 1400 Watts of power per square metre of surface assuming perpendicular incidence on the surface and neglecting any losses in the atmosphere.
